Religious Pravasi Series - Shree Kshetra Alandi & Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sanjivan Samadhi temple

Devachi Alandi (God's Alandi), i.e. "Shree Kshetra Alandi", is situated on the banks of river Indrayani with the Sanjivan Samadhi of Saint Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. We are going to take information about this place through our "Religious Pravasi" series in this blog.

After the wedding, due to the Corona lockdown, some religious places were left to visit. So we came to Alandi on Diwali, 2021. From Mumbai, we first came to Pune, at my in-law's place in Kharadi, and from there reached Lonikand via the Pune-Nagar road. From here we took the left route to Alandi.

On the way, we visited Shree Kshetra Tulapur. After paying homage to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi, visited the wonderful Tulapur temples and Triveni Sangam (Confluence of three rivers - Bhima, Bhama, and Indrayani. Click on Shree Kshetra Tulapur to read the blog of this Pravas.

Shree Kshetra Alandi is 10 km from Tulapur and 20 km from Pune station. As soon as we came to Alandi, visited the Hajeri Maruti temple.

We headed to Darshan Mandapa to queue up for the darshan of Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sanjivan Samadhi Temple.

At that time, the knowledge of religion was confined to Sanskrit texts. But the common Maharashtra people's language of speech and business was Marathi. Dnyaneshwar Maharaj wrote the book "Dnyaneshwari" in the Marathi language.

He opened the storehouse of knowledge of religion to the people. Taught brotherhood to people. At a young age, he took a living Samadhi in Alandi. "Have faith in God, treat everyone equally, and help the poor" Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's preaching is still echoing in every nook and cranny of Maharashtra for the past 700 years.

After seeing Dnyaneshwar Maharaj samadhi, we came out of the temple and went to the bank of the Indrayani river.

Sanctified by Dyaneshwar Maharaj's samadhi, this land has a unique significance in the Warkari sect. On the occasion of Ashadhi Wari, thousands of Warkaris travel a distance of 200 kilometers from Alandi to Pandharpur along with Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's palanquin. The Sanjivan Samadhi ceremony during the Kartik Yatra is celebrated in the devotional atmosphere of lakhs of devotees from all corners of the Maharashtra state. Along with Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's mausoleum, there are many monasteries and temples in this shrine.

After taking some photos at the banks of the Indrayani river for memories, we started our return journey.
