Rohida Fort in the Bhor Taluka of Pune District is sanctified by Chhatrapati Shri Shivaji Maharaj and the fort on which a diamond-like Narveer Baji Prabhu Deshpande was carved for Hindavi Swarajya (self-government). We are going to take brief information about this fort in this blog.
The height of the Rohida Fort is about 3650 feet and it is an easy trek. To reach the fort, the nearest railway station is Pune and from there the base village Bazarwadi is about 70 km away. From Pune station, one can first come to Swargate and then from there catch a bus to Bhor bus station. Bazarwadi village is 10 km from Bhor bus station and buses are available.
The fort can be reached by an hour's trek from Bazarwadi village. The fort is also known as Vichitragad Fort. Although the fort is small, there are many things to visit in the fort. The fort has water tanks, ruins of a palace and Sadar, three gates, inscriptions, Rohidamalla Bhairavnath temple, lime pit, Chor Darwaza, etc. The Bastions on the fort are still intact. Fatte, Shirwale, Damgude, Patne, Waghjai, and Sarja are the names of the bastions on the fort. Apart from that, Bazarwadi village also has a Hanuman temple and an ancient Bhairavnath temple.
To the south of the fort, Kenjalgad Fort is easily recognizable due to its distinctive shape. Raireshwar Plateau is adjacent to this fort and Raireshwar Fort is on the same plateau. Kamalgad Fort is also visible from here in the Dhom Dam area at the back. Many trekkers also do the Rohida - Raireshwar - Kenjalgad - Kamalgad Fort range trek.
